Demolition began Monday morning at the old Homecoming Restaurant, located at 1330 U.S. Route 68 North on the northern edge of Bellefontaine.
According to property records, the site was purchased in September 2025.
The demolition marks the first step toward the redevelopment of the property.
According to a public notice from the City of Bellefontaine, Matt Davis of CESO, based in Columbus, is representing Agree Convenience No. 1, LLC of Royal Oak, Michigan, which requested variances for signage height and area at the location.
The company will construct a new Speedway fuel center and convenience store on the site.
The Bellefontaine City Board of Zoning Appeals met on August 5th, for the following request: to allow the proposed signs for the project to remain within Speedway’s corporate brand standards, including a 50-foot sign height for freeway visibility—10 feet taller than currently permitted—and an increase in total sign area from the allowable 1,075.26 square feet to 1,731.64 square feet.
The property is zoned B-3 General Business District.
