Olvera pleads guilty to OVI and aggravated vehicular assault

Tuesday, Emily Olvera, 28, of North Lewisburg, pled guilty to charges of operating a vehicle under the Influence (OVI) and aggravated vehicular assault in connection with a crash that happened on November 2, 2024.

According to the Logan County Sheriff’s Office, just after 1:30 AM that Saturday, Olvera was driving eastbound in the westbound fast lane of US 33 when she collided head-on with a vehicle operated by 18-year-old Chloe Gross of Huntsville.

Olvera’s vehicle traveled off the roadway, overturned, and caught fire, while Gross’s vehicle came to rest near the exit ramp of State Route 540.

Gross had to be extracted from her vehicle by mechanical means.

Both women were transported to Grant Hospital in Columbus by Medflight.

Authorities believe Olvera was under the influence of drugs, medication, or alcohol at the time of the crash.

Olvera’s sentencing is scheduled for May 13th at 3:30 p.m.

The maximum punishment for aggravated vehicular assault is five years in prison.
