The Ohio State Highway Patrol is reporting 12 deaths in 12 fatal crashes across Ohio during the four-day Labor Day weekend.
The reporting period began at midnight Friday, September 4, and ended at 11:59 p.m. Monday, September 7.
According to preliminary statistics, at least one of the fatal crashes was OVI-related.
Troopers made 426 arrests for impaired driving and 70 arrests on drug-related charges.
Of the fatal crashes where a safety belt was available, one person was not wearing a seat belt.
Troopers also issued more than 2,100 safety belt citations and 1,525 citations for distracted driving.
The Patrol responded to 502 crashes and assisted 1,563 motorists statewide.
Locally, the Marysville Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, which covers Logan and Union Counties, reports a busy holiday weekend on area roadways.
Troopers made 514 traffic stops, with 344 resulting in enforcement action.
The Marysville Post also made 11 OVI arrests and one felony arrest.
Troopers investigated three crashes during the holiday weekend.
The Highway Patrol reminds drivers to follow traffic laws, never drive impaired, and use extra caution on area roadways.
