OVI checkpoint planned for Saturday night in Bellefontaine

The Ohio State Highway Patrol, in conjunction with the Logan County Sheriff’s Office and the Bellefontaine Police Department, announced that an OVI checkpoint is planned from 8 PM to 10 PM on Saturday on South Main Street in Bellefontaine.

The OVI checkpoint is funded by federal grant money. OVI checkpoints are planned to deter and intercept impaired drivers as well as educate motorists.

The checkpoint will also be held in conjunction with saturation patrols of the surrounding area to aggressively combat impaired driving.

If you plan to consume alcohol, designate a driver or make other travel arrangements before you drink. Don’t let another life be lost for the senseless and selfish act of getting behind the wheel.
