In a twist to the ongoing investigation of a fatal shooting on Christmas Eve, William and Vicki Yuretich, parents of 15-year-old Charly Yuretich, were arrested and lodged in the Logan County Jail on Wednesday.

The couple is facing charges of obstruction of justice and tampering with evidence in connection to the shooting death of 23-year-old Nathaniel G. Jones.

The Yuretich parents, who are also the adoptive parents to Jones, may have attempted to hinder the investigation into Charly’s involvement in the shooting, which happened at a residence on North Detroit Street in Bellefontaine.

Police are still working to determine the extent of the parent’s role in the case, but their arrests mark a big development in the case.

Charly Yuretich, the 15-year-old son of William and Vicki, was arrested on Christmas Eve 2024 after being identified as the shooter in the death of Nathaniel Jones.

On December 27th, the Logan County Prosecutor’s Office filed charges against Yuretich, including murder, felonious assault, and firearm specifications.

The case is being handled in juvenile court, though a motion has been filed to transfer it to adult court due to the seriousness of the crime.

If the case is transferred to adult court, Yuretich could face harsher penalties, including a lengthier prison sentence if convicted.

Yuretich appeared in court via video on December 26th, 2024, before Judge Kim Kellogg-Martin, who ordered him to remain in custody pending a risk assessment.

The Bellefontaine Police Department continues to investigate the events surrounding the shooting.

As the investigation progresses, further updates will be provided.
