The Bellefontaine Joint Recreation District trustees held their February meeting Tuesday night in Bellefontaine council chambers. The trustees held the meeting a week early since Superintendent Kris Myers and Recreation Coordinator Tim Hales will be attending a national conference in Sandusky, Ohio next week.
Councilman Nick Davis introduced himself to the trustees as the council representative. Davis, in his first term as city councilman, told the trustees that he was happy to serve on the Sidewalks, Curbs, and Parks committee. Davis talks about his passion for parks:
In Superintendent Kris Myers’ report, he told the trustees that he met with the Bellefontaine council finance committee before their meeting last week and went over the district’s capital funding requests that he submitted to the council. A major part of that budget request involves updating the restrooms at Rutan, Ratleff, and Southview Parks. The updates were identified as the most pressing need when the district submitted its master plan.
Myers talks about the proposed updates to the restrooms:
Myers also informed the trustees that the recent high winds knocked over three light poles at Rutan Park. The downed poles, all original, will not be replaced. Myers said that all the poles will be taken down since the field is no longer used.
Myers also presented the trustees with a mock-up of the 2024 Program Guide that will go to area preschools, Bellefontaine grades K through 8, and Calvary Christian School. The program will include information about the different sports the district offers as well as information about registration. He hopes the guide will go out in early February.
The trustees will meet on March 5th, 2024 at 7:00 PM.
