Early Monday morning, Jimmy Castaneda, 23 of Eagle Grove, Iowa, was northbound on US 68 just outside of Bellefontaine, when he went off the right side of the road, struck a ditch and then a tree.
Castaneda’s passenger, Maria Menendez, 21 of Clarion, Iowa, was taken by Bellefontaine EMS to the Heli Pad in Bellefontaine where she was flown to Miami Valley Hospital for serious injuries.
Menendez’s condition is unknown at the time of this report.
The accident was caused due to slick road conditions on Monday morning.
