On Tuesday, Judge Kevin P. Braig, of the Logan County Court of Common Pleas, sentenced Marvin Peterman to 7 to 10 years in prison on a single count of rape, a felony of the first degree.

Peterman pled guilty to the sex offense.

At his plea hearing, the Court mistakenly informed him that the offense was not subject to a mandatory prison term.

Prior to commencing the sentencing hearing, the Court corrected its mistake and informed Peterman the offense was subject to a mandatory prison term.

Peterman then reaffirmed his guilty plea to the offense.

Logan County Assistant Prosecutor Nathan Yohey represented the State of Ohio in both cases.

Defense counsel Eric Allen of New Albany, Ohio, represented Peterman.
