A Domino’s employee was injured Saturday night after being hit by a vehicle in the restaurant’s parking lot, according to the Bellefontaine Police Department.

Officers were called shortly before 8:00 PM to 509 South Main Street for a crash involving a vehicle and a pedestrian.

Police say Natasha Fissel, 46, of West Liberty, was delivering a car-side order when she was hit by a white BMW.

Fissel told officers she walked into the parking lot carrying pizzas after checking for moving vehicles.

As she crossed the lot, the BMW began backing out of a parking space.

Fissel reported the driver yelled for her to “watch out” just before the vehicle hit the left side of her body.

She was spun around and fell to her knees.

Bellefontaine EMS responded to the scene, but Fissel declined treatment; however was later taken by private vehicle to Mary Rutan Hospital.

The driver provided his name and contact information after the crash.

Officers later located the vehicle, a 2013 white BMW registered to Jose Vazquez of Bellefontaine, at a residence on White Pines Drive.

The driver was identified as Joseph Lopez, 33, of Belleftonaine, who admitted he struck the pedestrian.

According to police, Lopez said he initially stopped while backing up, but believed she waved him on.

A witness stated the vehicle did not see Fissel and clipped her arm and shoulder as she nearly cleared the vehicle.

Police discovered Lopez does not have a valid driver’s license.

He was cited for no operator’s license and failure to yield the right of way.

Lopez was given a mandatory court date appearance in Bellefontaine Municipal Court.
