Tuesday night, Bellefontaine Police apprehended two people after responding to reports of a possibly intoxicated driver.
The incident happened around 10:44 PM when dispatch received a call from a concerned citizen who saw a black Ford F-150 driving erratically.
The caller reported that the truck nearly struck his vehicle head-on as it traveled southbound into the city. He provided the vehicle’s registration number and followed it until officers could intercept.
Officers located the truck at the intersection of East Columbus Avenue and Madriver Street. After activating their emergency lights, they initiated a traffic stop when the vehicle turned onto South Park Street.
Upon approaching the vehicle, officers identified the driver as Sylvia Inskeep, 38, of Bellefontaine. Observing signs of nervousness and agitation, officers questioned her about her driving. Inskeep admitted she was unaware of driving on a one-way street and did not possess vehicle insurance.
During the investigation, officers discovered a clear syringe on the driver’s seat as Inskeep exited the vehicle. Subsequent searches revealed a stash of suspected methamphetamine, various pills, and additional drug paraphernalia in the vehicle, leading to the detainment of Inskeep and her passenger, Edward Morgan, 44, of Battle Creek, Michigan.
A further search of Morgan revealed two baggies of suspected methamphetamine and other controlled substances.
Both Inskeep and Morgan were placed under arrest and transported to the Logan County Jail.
Following the incident, officers confirmed that the drugs tested positive for methamphetamine, totaling approximately 41 grams.
