The Bellefontaine Police Department handled an incident Monday evening in the 400 block of East Columbus Avenue.
Around 8 PM law enforcement from several agencies were on the scene.
According to Bellefontaine Police, a person passed away at the scene.
Several witnesses in the area reported hearing at least one gunshot.
An investigation continues.
More details are expected to be released later today.
