Authorities are investigating a reported break-in at a vacant home on Sandusky Avenue after police were called to the scene late Monday morning.

According to the Bellefontaine Police Department, officers responded to the property just before 11:30 AM after a complaint of possible breaking and entering.

When they arrived, officers found the door to the home open, a window had been damaged, and inside the entryway, a second door leading to the kitchen was also damaged—its glass pane shattered and the electric deadbolt tampered with.

Police found a blue Louisville Slugger baseball bat lying between the two doors, and a pry bar was found on a nearby windowsill.

The property owner said that a realtor had visited the property earlier in the day to take listing photographs and found the damage.

Photographs of the scene were taken, and the incident remains under investigation.
