The Bellefontaine Police Department is pleased to announce the upcoming Citizens’ Police Academy, offering local residents a unique opportunity to learn about the day-to-day operations of their police department.
This engaging program is designed to enhance understanding of law enforcement and foster community involvement.
Participants in the Citizens’ Police Academy will gain firsthand insights into the complexities of modern policing and discover the vital role of community-based policing in effective crime prevention.
The program encourages active engagement with officers, providing attendees with the knowledge they need to contribute to the safety and well-being of Bellefontaine.
The curriculum includes a variety of topics, such as tours of the police station and jail, K-9 Unit demonstrations, criminal investigations, traffic laws, and crime prevention strategies.
Each session is designed to be interactive, promoting questions and open discussions.
Classes are free and will be held on Thursday nights for 10 weeks, from February 6 to April 24, 2025, between 6:00 PM and 9:30 PM at the Bellefontaine Police Department Training Room.
Attendees are encouraged to wear casual attire and come ready to participate.
To qualify for the program, participants must be residents of Bellefontaine or affiliated with a Bellefontaine business or organization and be at least 18 years old.
