Officers from the Russells Point Police Department successfully located two missing juveniles at the John and Mary Rudolph Nature Area on Wednesday evening.
The department received the report just before 6:30 PM and immediately began a coordinated search with assistance from the Logan County Sheriff’s Office, Washington Township Police Department, and the Indian Joint Fire District.
Using a combination of phone location tracking and on-foot searches, officers found the two young females near the Great Miami River, along the back side of the nature trail.
Both were evaluated by Indian Lake EMS personnel and safely reunited with their parents.
The Russells Point Police Department reminds all park visitors to practice safe hiking habits, including staying on marked trails, hiking with a buddy, and carrying a charged phone.
The department also extended thanks to the community and partnering agencies for their quick response and assistance.
