Trenton Mathews, 45, at large, was arrested Saturday evening after fleeing from police and resisting arrest.
Around 8:00 PM, a Bellefontaine Police officer saw Mathews walking in an alley between 315 and 319 North Detroit Street.
Knowing Mathews had a warrant for his arrest, the officer confirmed it through his cruiser’s onboard computer.
When Mathews noticed the officer behind him, he ran north toward West High Avenue, shouting that he wasn’t going back to jail.
Despite repeated commands to stop, Mathews continued west across North Elm Street, cutting through yards and briefly into a wooded area before entering a dog kennel off Kennedy Street.
Inside the kennel, Mathews took a fighting stance and refused to get on the ground.
An officer deployed their taser, but Mathews continued advancing.
After a second taser cycle, Mathews fell but still refused to comply.
Two additional cycles were used before he finally rolled over and was placed in handcuffs by officers.
Mathews was checked by Bellefontaine Fire Department medics before being transported to the Logan County Jail.
He was charged with obstructing official business and resisting arrest.
