Late Friday night, Logan County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a menacing report in Lakeview.
The victim, an eight-months-pregnant woman, told authorities that Cole Wilt, 35, of Bell Center, had threatened to kill her, her unborn child, and her parents.
In her statement, the woman said she and Wilt had an argument earlier that morning, during which he struck her and placed her in a chokehold before leaving for work.
She reported receiving several calls from him throughout the day, threatening violence against her and her family.
She also received a text from Wilt stating he was on his way to the residence to carry out the threats.
Deputies first met with the victim at a gas station to gather information.
Wilt’s vehicle was later located at a home in Belle Center.
Deputies made contact with him by phone, during which he reportedly stated he would engage in a shootout with police if they approached.
Wilt then refused to leave the residence when deputies arrived.
Cole Wilt was later lodged at the Logan County Jail on Monday evening on charges of aggravated menacing.
The case remains under investigation.
