It was a rainy first night for showing at the 2024 Champaign County Fair in Urbana, but that didn’t keep fair-goers from enjoying the festivities, on Friday night.
Nearly 40 of the county’s best young men and women joined in showing off their pigs in the Jr. Fair Swine Breeding Gilt show.
Winning Grand Champion Breeding Gilt was 6th grader Dixon Pullins, with his 282-pound Hampshire gilt and Class 4 winner. He says raising a champion gilt is a lot of hard work, but a family ordeal.
Reserve Grand Champion Breeding Gilt was Dezmond Taylor (Class 6 winner).
3rd Overall: Dixon Pullins (Class 2 winner).
4th Overall: Kaisley Bishop (Class 5 winner).
5th Overall: Taylor Heizer (Class 5 runner-up).
