Riverside High School has announced its January Seniors of the Month, Zoey Ransbottom and Carston Bell.
Zoey Ransbottom is the daughter of Colby and Dana Ransbottom.
School activities & awards: I have been actively engaged in numerous leadership roles and extracurricular activities throughout high school. My leadership experience includes serving as Senior Class President, Junior Class Treasurer, FFA Treasurer (2024-2025), and FFA Secretary (2025-2026). I will also serve as BPA Treasurer for the 2025-2026 year and was a BPA National Qualifier in two events (Parliamentary Procedure and Financial Portfolio). I participated in Student Council and the Pirate Advisory Committee from 9th to 12th grade, and was selected to volunteer with Student United Way. I was a four-year athlete in both softball and volleyball. My achievements include receiving the Honda Breakfast award twice and being recognized annually at the Evening of Excellence ceremonies.
If I were principal for a day: I would let everyone have a day off
Favorite school memory: Accidentally setting off the fire alarms during the FFA Haunted Hallways
People who have been an inspiration to me include: My Parents, Grandparents, Aunt Kylee, Mrs. Marks, and Mrs. Wyan.
Lately, I have been reading: Scholarship papers
My advice to parents: Focus on being a consistent, supportive role model for your kids while keeping communication honest and simple.
My biggest regret: Not doing CCP classes sooner
Most embarrassing moment: When I fell off the moon climber in 2nd grade and landed on my back (Iykyk)
Next year I will be: Going to college and preparing for my career
Carston Bell is the son of Molli Bell and Jason Bell.
School activities & awards: Varsity Football Team, Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) Officer, Pirates Advisory Club (PAC) Member, Business Professionals of America Member.
If I were principal for a day: I would put up a proposal to change the lunch menus to foods the students actually enjoy.
Favorite school memory: Getting the chance to play football on Friday nights with my dad being one of the assistant coaches on the coaching staff.
People who have been an inspiration to me include: My family, as they have all always supported me in any decision I have made. My peers at school are always so kind and supportive of me, no matter what.
Lately, I have been reading: Macbeth as it’s what we are reading in English class.
My advice to parents: Just keep doing what you’re doing. You guys are the best parents I could ever ask for, love you guys..
My biggest regret: Not playing basketball my freshman year, as that would have enticed me to play the rest of high school.
Most embarrassing moment: Dropping a wide-open touchdown pass in the end zone this year at home against Milton Union on 4th down from the 2-yard line late in the 3rd quarter, which would have given us the lead of the game, and it would end up being my only chance ever to score a varsity touchdown.
Next year I will be: Attending the University of Northwestern Ohio for a degree in Motorsports Marketing.
