More than 150 students and parents recently set sail for learning during the Pirate Tales and Treasure STREAM Night and Art Show at Riverside Elementary.
The event brought together staff members and high school students to create an evening filled with hands-on learning activities centered around science, technology, reading, engineering, art, and math.
Families explored a variety of pirate-themed stations designed to encourage creativity, problem-solving, and fun.
Students from Mr. Hodge’s manufacturing program helped lead four interactive stations focused on robotics and engineering.
Meanwhile, Mrs. Miller’s agriculture class assisted by creating props and materials used throughout the activities.
Some of the most popular stations included Cannon Launch, Sink the Ship, Treasure Dig, Pirate Hook, and Treasure Quest, where students worked alongside their parents to complete challenges and experiments.
In addition to the activity stations, the event featured an art show highlighting projects created by preschool through fifth-grade students in Miss Steinke’s art classes.
The excitement will continue at Riverside Elementary with a pirate-themed literacy week that began Monday, March 9.
Organizers say the evening’s events were made possible thanks to an AAUW grant from the Logan County Education Foundation, which helped support the hands-on learning opportunities for students and families.
