Red-light mistake leads to crash

Washington Township Police say a woman was injured Monday evening after driving through a red light at the intersection of Township Road 239 and U.S. Route 33 in Lakeview.

The incident occurred around 5:30 p.m. when the woman entered the intersection against the red signal.

Her vehicle was then struck by the rear axles of a semi-trailer traveling through the area.

She was transported by EMS to Mary Rutan Hospital for treatment of suspected minor injuries.

Officers report that she was not impaired and told them she believed the traffic light was green at the time.

The area was closed for a short time while crews cleared the scene.

No further details have been released, and the crash remains under investigation.
