An Urbana woman was arrested Tuesday, January 6, after police responded to a report of a reckless driver on Scioto Street.

Police say a caller reported seeing a woman stumbling through a parking lot near 803 Scioto Street before getting into a black Acura and nearly causing several accidents. An officer soon spotted the vehicle and stopped it after it pulled into the McDonald’s parking lot on Scioto Street and parked improperly.

The driver was identified as Jayme Lynn Reed. Officers reported smelling alcohol and noted Reed had slurred speech, delayed responses, and glassy, bloodshot eyes. Reed denied drinking alcohol and said she had only consumed tea.

Reed appeared unsteady on her feet and nearly fell while officers attempted to conduct field sobriety tests. For safety reasons, the tests were stopped. Reed then refused to take a preliminary breath test, telling officers she believed she would be over the legal limit.

Police arrested Reed for operating a vehicle under the influence. A search of the vehicle reportedly uncovered several empty bottles of Pink Whitney Pink Lemonade, an alcoholic beverage.

Reed later refused a breath test at the Urbana Police Division after being read Ohio’s implied consent form. She was cited for OVI and transported to the Tri-County Jail.
