Today, the nation pauses to remember the tragic events of September 11, 2001, on Patriot Day.

It has been 24 years since nearly 3,000 lives were lost in terrorist attacks in New York City, Washington, D.C., and Pennsylvania.

Across the country, ceremonies honor the first responders, military personnel, and civilians who showed extraordinary bravery on that day.

Flags are flown at half-staff, moments of silence are observed, and communities come together to reflect on the lives lost and the resilience of the American spirit.

Governor DeWine asks that all Ohioans observe a moment of silence beginning at 8:46 a.m. to honor the innocent lives lost as a result of the terrorist attacks.

Patriot Day is not a federal holiday, but it serves as a solemn reminder of the courage, sacrifice, and unity that emerged in the face of tragedy.

Americans nationwide continue to honor the memory of those lost and the heroes who risked everything to save others.
