A Ridgeway man was arrested late Saturday night after crashing his vehicle into a home in Belle Center, according to the Logan County Sheriff’s Office.
Just after 11:00 p.m., deputies responded to East Buckeye Street, where a green Ford Explorer had left the roadway and struck the front of a residence at 418.
The driver, identified as 32-year-old Austin Housler, told deputies he had been traveling east on State Route 273 when his vehicle’s throttle became stuck, causing him to lose control and crash into the home.
While speaking with Housler, deputies detected the odor of alcohol on his breath, despite a strong scent of mint.
Witnesses at the scene reported seeing him stumble as he exited the vehicle.
When asked to perform field sobriety tests, Housler refused and requested to speak with an attorney.
Deputies noted that he showed multiple signs of impairment and placed him under arrest for operating a vehicle under the influence.
During a search of the vehicle, deputies located a red cooler behind the driver’s seat that contained ice and cans of beer.
Housler was taken to the Logan County Jail, where he refused to take a breathalyzer test.
He is facing charges of operating a vehicle under the influence, refusal to submit to a breath test, and failure to control, and was later released to a sober driver.
Housler is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday, June 11th.
