The Riverside Board of Education met for its June meeting Tuesday night in DeGraff.
With a light agenda, the meeting was only about 20 minutes long.
Superintendent Scott Mann kicked off the meeting, reporting visible progress at the new sports complex, with steel framing and turf installation underway.
Due to recent amounts of rain, contractors are working extended hours to stay on track for an August 1st completion date.
Mann talks about the progress and other things facing the district this summer:
The board also approved the creation of a Capital Projects Fund to support future improvements to district facilities.
The fund can be used over the next 10 years for major purchases, upgrades, and construction projects.
An initial transfer of $1,607,100 from the district’s General Fund will cover the following:
- Technology updates and additions – $127,100
- Turf and track replacement – $350,000
- New transportation equipment (including buses) – $830,000
- Asphalt repair and replacement – $300,000
The fund may also receive donations or additional transfers, all of which will require separate board approval.
If unused after 10 years, the funds will be returned to their original sources
