Riverside EMS is officially closing on Wednesday night, ending 50 years of service to the community.

On social media, the EMS posted the following statement:

“For five decades, the tones have sounded, and dedicated providers have answered, serving with compassion, courage, and professionalism. They stood beside their neighbors in the hardest moments, brought comfort in times of fear, and offered hope when it was needed most. Through it all, they stood together as family. The service of Riverside EMS does not end here. Its legacy lives on in the lives saved, the hands held, and the countless moments when help arrived just in time. To every member who ever served, and to every family member and supporter who stood behind them, thank you for 50 years of unwavering commitment! As we pass the torch, we recognize the extraordinary efforts of those who worked to ensure continued and strengthened emergency medical coverage for our community. This was always the mission; this was always the goal.”

Emergency medical services in the area will continue through the Indian Lake Joint Ambulance District, which will take over operations in the current Riverside EMS building.

The Village of DeGraff has contracted with ILEMS to maintain local emergency coverage.

There will be a last call for Riverside EMS at 11 p.m. tonight from Logan County Dispatch.
