Riverside Local Schools recently celebrated the third Just Us Girls Retreat at Camp Wilson on October 13th and 14th. The event brought together 36 junior and senior girls, alongside 10 dedicated staff members, for an inspiring overnight experience.
Launched in the 2020-21 school year, the retreat occurs every other year and aims to foster a supportive environment among students and staff while promoting personal growth. This year’s theme was recognizing and nurturing each girl’s inner flame and purpose.
The retreat kicked off on Sunday evening with a motivational presentation by Shannon Maier, who spoke about the importance of keeping one’s inner flame lit. Following the opening session, participants engaged in various activities designed to build teamwork and confidence, including the giant swing, archery, survival skills, and a team challenge.
On Monday, the girls participated in small group sessions led by Mandy Fountaine from Girl Thriving. These sessions focused on helping the girls identify their strengths and encouraging them to continue developing their unique talents.
The Just Us Girls Retreat not only provided a space for fun and adventure but also aimed to empower young women to embrace their potential and support one another in their journeys. As the girls departed Camp Wilson, they left with renewed energy and a deeper sense of purpose, ready to face the challenges ahead.
