Riverside High School is proud to recognize its August Seniors of the Month, celebrating the achievements and contributions of Ashley Roach and Hayden Sanford.
Ashley Roach
Ashley, daughter of Scott and Misty Roach of DeGraff, Ohio, has excelled both academically and through leadership roles.
She is involved in Business Professionals of America, Student Council, National Honor Society, National Technical Honor Society, and serves on the Pirate Advisory Committee.
She has been recognized at the Honda Achievement Breakfast for Chemistry, and holds leadership positions as Junior Class President and Vice President of Riverside Hustlers 4-H, as well as Reporter for the Logan County Junior Fair Board.
If Ashley were principal for a day, she would take the time to understand the students’ problems and needs.
Her favorite school memory is her entire eighth-grade year.
She counts Mrs. Fauley, Mrs. Hess, Mrs. Marks, Señora Cotterman, Mrs. Wyan, and her family as inspirations.
Recently, Ashley has been reading The Bible, and she advises parents:
“Know that you have done your best at being parents. I wouldn’t be where I am today without both of you. Behind every child who believes in themselves are parents who believed in them first.”
Ashley’s biggest regret is focusing on doing things for others instead of herself, and her most embarrassing moment was falling down the bleachers at a basketball game.
Next year, she will attend The Ohio State University ATI to study Animal Science/Pre-Vet, with the goal of becoming a veterinarian.
Hayden Sanford
Hayden, the son of Dennis and Tara Sanford of West Liberty, Ohio, has been actively involved in Riverside’s athletics and academic programs.
He participates in golf, baseball, and basketball, serves as a State Representative for Business Professionals of America, and contributes to the Pirate Advisory Committee.
He is also a member of the National Technical Honor Society and FFA, and has been honored at the Honda Academic Breakfast for Geometry.
If Hayden were principal for a day, he would host a students vs. teachers basketball game.
His favorite school memory is playing in the T-Bone 3-on-3 during his sophomore year.
Hayden cites his dad, Gavin Robinson, and Shannon Shoe as inspirations in his life.
Recently, Hayden has been keeping up with conference golf stats.
His advice to parents is:
“Don’t let your child procrastinate.”
Reflecting on his past, he admits his biggest regret is not making the most of past opportunities, and his most embarrassing moment was playing Northridge in 8th-grade basketball.
Next year, Hayden plans to continue his education by attending college.
Congratulations!
