A Bellefontaine woman was arrested last week after police say she was intoxicated during a drive-through crash.

Last Thursday, just before 5:30 p.m., officers were called to the 1300 block of South Main Street in Bellefontaine after a minor accident in the drive-through lane.

The driver at fault, later identified as 64-year-old Brenda Roach, was suspected of being under the influence.

When officers arrived, they spoke with Roach and the other driver involved, Melissa Richardson.

Police say Roach was unsteady on her feet and used the side of the building to keep her balance.

She admitted to drinking earlier in the afternoon, telling officers she had consumed one and a half “tall boy” beers around 1 p.m.

Roach agreed to field sobriety tests, which police say she failed.

According to the report, she struggled to follow instructions, swayed while standing, and nearly fell during testing.

She was placed under arrest for operating a vehicle under the influence.

Police found a half-empty bottle of whiskey in the center console while searching Roach’s vehicle.

At the police station, Roach submitted to a breath test, which registered a blood alcohol concentration of .170—more than twice the legal limit.

She was issued a citation for OVI and released to a sober driver.
