What started as a routine traffic stop on Thursday afternoon on US 33 ended with a summons, thanks to the keen nose of K9 Tega.

Deputies initially pulled over a silver Honda Civic for dark-tinted front windows.

The driver and passenger, later identified as Jonelle Tinch, 41, of Lakeview, were both smoking freshly lit cigarettes, raising deputies’ suspicions of drug use.

K9 Tega arrived on the scene and alerted to the possibility of drugs inside the vehicle.

Tinch told deputies she had a bag containing leftover cocaine.

When deputies searched the vehicle, they found a small fabric bag with unknown pills, two short plastic straws with white residue, and a small plastic baggie with white residue.

Tinch was issued a summons for possession of drug paraphernalia, while the driver received a written warning for the window tint violation.
