On Monday, July 15th, the Russells Point Police Department started investigating Cedric Barhorst, of Russells Point, after he repeatedly sent abusive phone messages to Civista Bank. The branch manager reported that Barhorst had been making threatening calls to her and other staff members.
The issue began on July 2nd when Barhorst tried to deposit a check at the Russells Point branch. The check was put on hold because of suspected fraud. Barhorst was upset and kept calling the bank, using offensive language and making threats. His behavior scared the staff.
Although things seemed to calm down, the problem returned on September 12th. Barhorst started making threatening calls again, this time to both the bank’s Russells Point and Sandusky branches. His threats included disturbing statements like “shooting people” at the branch.
A warrant was issued for Barhorst’s arrest on Friday. With help from the Auglaize County Sheriff’s Office, he was arrested and taken to the Logan County Jail. He faces charges of telephone harassment and aggravated menacing.
