Monday night at the Russells Point Council meeting, two new faces and one who’s returning officially joined the local government team.
Rebekah Smith, Anne Elleman, and Liz Gibson were sworn in as council members in a brief ceremony conducted by Mayor John Huffman.
Smith’s term was renewed, allowing her to continue to serve the community, while Elleman and Gibson take their seats on the council for the first time.
Smith said, “Being elected to serve on the Village Council of Russells Point is an incredible privilege. Russells Point has a rich history and a strong sense of pride, and I look forward to working with residents, the village team and fellow council members to build on that foundation. Together, we can create opportunities, strengthen our local economy, and make Russells Point an even better place to live, work, and visit.”
The evening set a positive tone for the upcoming year, building on the experience of returning members and getting a fresh perspective from the newcomers.
