Schmidt and Carnes named Calvary Seniors of the Month

Calvary Christian has announced their May Seniors of the Month, Ian Schmidt and Preston Carnes.

Ian Schmidt is the son of Brian and Nicole Schmidt.

School Activities and Awards: Varsity basketball, Track and Field, Skills USA Regional Champion and State Competitor, Skills USA FCL Statesman, ASB Chapel Worship Team, OHP Construction Trades Senior President.

Favorite School Memory: Going to volleyball games and getting hyped with the whole high school being there.

Something I’m Passionate About: Woodworking, physical fitness and training, backpacking/hiking, hanging out with friends, serving on worship teams and playing music.

People Who Have Been an Inspiration to Me:  My mother and father, Jodie LaBelle, David Marsteller, my grandparents, and Cole Cronkleton.

Bible Verse That Has Had a Strong Impact on Me: 1 Peter 4:10, “As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace.”

Most Impactful High School Activity: Skills USA.

Current Plans After I Graduate: Work for a custom home builder remodeler.

How Calvary Has Shaped My Worldview: Walking in every day to teachers who listen and teach the truth has really been impactful. And being able to be surrounded by like-minded believers who lift me up and challenge me to be a better Christ follower.

 

Preston Carnes is the son of Amber Carnes.

How Calvary Has Shaped My Worldview: It has set a firm foundation in my faith so that I can handle the trials that I will face, and will let me be a light to others.

Advice for Students Entering High School: Don’t procrastinate and listen. Your teachers do care about you and want the best for you. Homework and tests might suck but they are preparing you for the real world with a strong foundation on Christ and great work ethic.
