On Monday afternoon, an unidentified driver was behind the wheel of a red Volkswagen “Bug” owned by Krista Reprogle of Bellefontaine when it was involved in a crash at the intersection of County Road 32 South and Township Road 30, between Bellefontaine and West Liberty.
The accident occurred just before 3:00 PM when the driver, traveling west, left the roadway, struck a telephone pole, and came to rest on Township Road 30. The passenger, identified as David Taggart, 35, of Bellefontaine, was located down the road from the accident, in the 5000 block of C.R. 32 South. He sustained suspected minor injuries, was treated by EMS, and was transported to Mary Rutan Hospital for further care.
Taggart informed the Logan County Sheriff’s Office that he was a passenger in the vehicle and identified a named male who was driving and fled the scene on foot. In response, authorities established a perimeter around Township Roads 190 and 32 in an attempt to locate the driver, but he has not yet been found.
This crash is still under investigation, and the Sheriff’s Office has promised to provide updates as more information becomes available.
