Seeing Christmas through Cannon’s eyes

As Christmas approaches, I found myself searching for a fresh angle on the Christmas story — something I hadn’t done before.

While scrolling through the internet for inspiration, I noticed many holiday stories were told from a child’s perspective.

It felt simple enough at first, but choosing which child to feature proved to be the real challenge.

That’s when Cannon Wood came to mind.

As I scrolled through social media, one of Cannon’s recent videos appeared in my feed, and the idea instantly clicked.

Cannon is an 11-year-old Benjamin Logan student whose story I’ve shared before.

He’s an actor with a deep love for sports and, against all odds, refuses to let his lack of sight hold him back.

I reached out to his mom, and before I knew it, Cannon was sitting in the studio.

I’ll admit — I was nervous.

Interviewing adults comes naturally to me.

I’ve spoken with many influential people over the years, but kids?

That’s a different story. My own children are older now, so my interactions with younger kids are fairly limited.

Still, I knew this interview was going to be something special.

And it was.

Wishing you and yours a very Merry Christmas, and encouraging you to slow down, enjoy the season, and spend time with loved ones!
