Semi overturns on U.S. 68 during severe storms in Champaign County

A semi truck overturned Tuesday on U.S. 68 near Deer Run Road after encountering severe crosswinds during storms that moved through Champaign County and other parts of Ohio.

According to the Champaign County Sheriff’s Office crash report, the semi was traveling southbound on U.S. 68 approaching the intersection of Deer Run Road when it encountered strong crosswinds caused by a heavy storm in the area.

The crosswinds caused the truck to overturn, coming to rest on its right side.

The semi was towing a 53-foot cargo box trailer, and the driver was identified as 56-year-old Brent Madden, 56, of Huber Heights.

A possible injury was suspected following the crash, but no injuries had been confirmed at the time of the report.

The crash occurred as severe weather moved across Champaign County Tuesday, with storms bringing strong winds and heavy rain to the area and other parts of Ohio.

The Champaign County Sheriff’s Office handled the crash. Additional information was not immediately available.
