The Logan County Chamber of Commerce held its monthly Business Impact Meeting on Wednesday morning at Mary Rutan Health.
State Senator Susan Manchester was the guest speaker, offering a brief legislative update and answering questions from attendees.
She discussed the state budget, Ohio’s flat income tax rate, and recent budget cuts.
Manchester emphasized the role of property taxes in funding local services, noting that none of the money goes to the state.
She also touched on topics such as population trends, school levies, and the “20-mill floor,” stressing the importance of supporting local services like law enforcement and EMS.
She also highlighted her proposed Paramedicine Bill, which aims to expand the scope of EMS services.
Manchester said she hopes the bill will gain traction this fall.
While the Senate is currently on summer break, lawmakers will return to Columbus in September.
