According to the Union County Prosecutors Office, the Third District Court of Appeals has upheld the 25-to-28-year prison sentence for Gregory Lee Combs II, who was convicted in Union County for his role in a large meth trafficking operation.
Combs pleaded guilty to 11 felony charges, including drug trafficking, drug possession, and being part of a criminal group.
Investigators say he helped collect money, travel to Dayton to get methamphetamine, and deliver it to several cities, including Marysville, North Lewisburg, Sidney, Bellefontaine, and Marion between January and August 2023.
The trial court gave Combs a long prison sentence, pointing to his long history of drug-related crimes going back to 2006.
The judge also noted that he continued to break the law even while on parole.
Combs appealed the sentence, saying it was too long and that not all of it should be mandatory.
But the Court of Appeals disagreed.
The judges said his repeated crimes and past convictions made the sentence fair under Ohio law.
He will now serve at least 25 years in prison.
The case is being sent back to the trial court to finish up with court cost procedures.
The case was handled on appeal by Union County Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Samantha Hobbs, and the investigation was led by the MADE Task Force with help from the Logan County Sheriff’s Office.
