The Marysville Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash involving three vehicles on U.S. Route 33 eastbound near milepost 18 in Jefferson Township, Logan County.
The crash occurred around 4:13 p.m. on Wednesday and involved two commercial vehicles and a passenger car.
According to troopers, a blue 2018 Kia Rio driven by 26-year-old Ismahan Abdikadir Nagati of Columbus was disabled in the left lane when it was struck from behind by a green 2020 Mack dump truck operated by Steven Moore, 60, of DeGraff.
The impact pushed the Kia into the right lane, where it was hit by a white 2021 International tractor-trailer driven by Kenneth Bird, 69, of Cardington.
Following the collision, the dump truck overturned and spilled a load of gravel across the roadway before traveling off the right side.
The tractor-trailer also overturned after leaving the roadway, while the Kia came to rest off the right side of the highway.
Nagati was pronounced dead at the scene.
Moore was airlifted to The Ohio State University Medical Center in serious condition, while Bird was taken to Memorial Hospital in Marysville with minor injuries.
Both eastbound lanes of U.S. 33 were closed for several hours as crews worked to clear the wreckage and spilled gravel.
ODOT established a detour using State Route 540 and State Route 292.
The crash remains under investigation by the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
