The Logan County Sheriff’s Office and the Bellefontaine Police Department responded to numerous accidents over the weekend due to the weather and road conditions.

One accident involved an ODOT snow plow truck.  No injuries were reported.

Another accident resulted in an OVI arrest.

The Logan County Sheriff’s Office responded to a two-vehicle non-injury accident Friday morning at the intersection of 33 and Township Road 239 near Lakeview.

The accident happened when a jeep was sitting at the stop light on 239 when a truck, driven by Steven Rice of Lakeview, failed to negotiate the stop and slid into the rear of the jeep.

The report says that Rice tried to talk the driver of the jeep into following him to his house so law enforcement didn’t have to respond.

Deputies arrived and smelled an odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from Rice.  His eyes was bloodshot and glassy.

When asked how much he had to drink, Rice stated he was “still hungover from last night” and that’s why he smelled of alcohol.

Rice declined field sobriety tests and a breath test.

He was charged with OVI and assured clear distance.
