Sheriff Burroughs commends Deputy Farber for saving choking victim

A Champaign County deputy is being hailed a hero after his swift actions saved a man’s life during a medical emergency over the weekend.

According to the Champaign County Sheriff’s Office, Deputy Jacob Farber responded to a 911 call on the evening of October 5 regarding an adult male who was choking and unable to breathe. Upon arrival, Deputy Farber immediately assessed the situation and performed the Heimlich maneuver, successfully dislodging the obstruction.

Officials confirmed that the victim made a full recovery at the scene thanks to the deputy’s rapid response and emergency training.

In a formal commendation, the Sheriff’s Office praised Deputy Farber’s calm demeanor and decisive action.
