Two Indian Lake High School students were chosen to attend Buckeye Boys State this week at Miami University.
The following will attend Buckeyes Boys’ State June 8-15:
- Noah Shirk, son of Andy and Sarah Shirk of Huntsville
- Silas Holbrook, son of Patsy Conroy of Lakeview
Buckeye Boys’ State is sponsored by the Huntsville American Legion Post 381, and participants must meet several qualifications.
Candidates must be juniors in high school, interested in government and current events, and have an above-average scholastic standing.
The young men must also demonstrate high moral character, possess strong leadership skills, and have a desire for learning.
The purpose of Buckeye Boys State is to provide hands-on experience in the operation of the democratic form of government, the organization of political parties, and the relationship of one to the other in shaping Ohio government.
At Buckeye Boys State, young men learn about city, county, and state government through a non-partisan, objective education approach.
