A Belle Center man is facing charges after a crash on Friday at a Huntsville bar that sent two people to the hospital.

According to the Logan County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called just before 6:00 p.m. to Desperados Bar on Lima Street for an injury accident.

A 2015 Mercedes, driven by Deshon Miller, 27, of Riverdale, Georgia, was traveling southbound on Lima Street when a 2017 Toyota Camry, driven by Robert Shobe, 31, of Belle Center, attempted to pull out of the Desperados parking lot.

The Mercedes struck the side of the Camry.

Miller was transported by Huntsville EMS to Mary Rutan Hospital with possible injuries.

His passenger, Moseiah Williams, 27, of Jonesboro, Georgia, was also taken to the hospital for treatment.

When deputies arrived, they were initially told the at-fault driver had walked away from the scene.

A short time later, Shobe returned and was identified by those involved.

He told deputies he had stepped away to use the restroom while waiting for law enforcement.

According to the report, deputies noticed that Shobe showed several signs of intoxication.

He admitted to consuming alcohol earlier in the day and that he had been drinking at Brewfontaine before arriving at Desperados.

Shobe declined to perform field sobriety tests after attempting to contact an attorney and was taken into custody.

He was transported to the Logan County Jail, where he refused to submit to a breath test.

Shobe was cited for operating a vehicle impaired and failure to yield from a private drive.

He was then released to a sober driver.
