A Dayton man is facing multiple felony charges following a shooting Sunday in Urbana.
Re’Quan J. Roberts, 24, is the alleged suspect in the incident. According to records from Champaign County Municipal Court, Roberts is facing five counts of felonious assault and one count of improper discharge of a firearm, with all charges stemming from an incident on August 16.
Roberts was arrested by the Urbana Police Division and taken to the Tri-County Regional Jail following his arrest. He appeared in Champaign County Municipal Court Monday morning for a criminal arraignment by video and was appointed an attorney.
The court set Roberts’ bond at $100,000 cash or surety, with no 10% option. As a condition of his bond, he was ordered to have several no-contact orders.
Roberts is scheduled to appear for a preliminary hearing at 2:30 p.m. Friday, August 21, in Champaign County Municipal Court.

The following update is a press release issued by Urbana Police Chief Josh Jacobs regarding the shots fired incident that occurred late Sunday evening:
“The Urbana Police Division is investigating a shooting that occurred in the 700-block of Hagenbuch Street, Urbana, Ohio. The incident took place on Sunday, August 16, 2026 shortly after 10:30 p.m.
“Investigation showed that shots were fired into a residence in this area. No injuries were reported.
“No one was arrested at the scene of the shooting. Police believe that the shooting is an isolated event with no current public threat. The investigation is ongoing.
“At this time, no further comment will be offered regarding this investigation.”

An active police investigation is underway following a report of shots fired on Hagenbuch Street in Urbana late Sunday evening.
According to the Champaign County Dispatch Center, officers are currently in the area investigating the situation. The report indicates shots were fired at a home in the 700 block of Hagenbuch Street.
A person reportedly left the area in a vehicle as officers began responding. Authorities have not released additional information about the circumstances or whether anyone was injured.
Residents are asked to avoid the area while the investigation continues. More information will be provided as it becomes available.
