Officers from the Washington Township Police Department were dispatched to the area of State Route 708 and Township Road 61 for an assault that had occurred as the result of a road rage incident Sunday afternoon around 12:55.
Upon arrival, officers met with a 72-year-old victim that advised a motorcyclist had followed him from Jackson Center and was driving recklessly. The motorcyclist stopped in front of the victim, and the victim exited his vehicle to see why he stopped in front of him.
John Pultz, 34 of Sidney, immediately went up to the victim and punched him. Once the victim fell to the ground, he began to kick him several times.
Several witnesses advised they witnessed the assault. Due to the victim’s injuries, Indian Lake EMS transported the victim to Mary Rutan Hospital for treatment.
Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office located Pultz at a nearby business. Pultz admitted to the assault. He stated the victim struck his motorcycle and he was merely following the victim to obtain his information.
Pultz did not have a reason as to why he assaulted the victim.
Pultz was taken into custody and charged with assault.
He was lodged in the Logan County Jail.
