A serious single-vehicle crash on Monday afternoon sent one man to the hospital with serious injuries, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Troopers from the Springfield Post responded to the scene just before 2:30 p.m. on September 15. The crash occurred on Valley Pike, just north of the intersection with W. Dallas Road in Mad River Township, Champaign County.
A preliminary investigation revealed that a 2021 Jeep Wrangler, driven by 77-year-old Christopher Murray of Springfield, was heading north on Valley Pike when it veered off the right side of the roadway. The vehicle struck a guardrail, overturned, and came to rest in a ditch.
Murray was transported by ground ambulance to Kettering Health – Springfield with serious injuries. His current condition has not been released.
The crash remains under investigation by the Springfield Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
