Slick road conditions contribute to serious accident on US 33

Icy road conditions were a factor in a serious single-vehicle crash that occurred early Thursday morning on US 33.

Maurice Coleman, 40, of Columbus, was driving a 2023 Freightliner semi when the accident happened.

According to the Logan County Sheriffs Office, Coleman was attempting to pass another vehicle when he lost control of the truck.

The Freightliner went off the roadway and collided with trees on the driver’s side of the tractor.

Emergency responders arrived on the scene shortly after the crash and Coleman was transported to Mary Rutan Hospital with suspected serious injuries.

Coleman was cited for failure to control the vehicle.
