The Bellefontaine Police Department responded to multiple traffic crashes Friday morning, all blamed on icy road conditions.
The first crash happened just after 6:00 AM at the intersection of Sandusky Avenue and Madriver Street.
Police say a 2023 Ford Bronco driven by 40-year-old Claudia Burks of West Liberty was stopped at a red light on Sandusky Avenue when it was rear-ended by a 2013 Honda Odyssey.
The Odyssey, driven by 34-year-old Daniel Hopper of Bellefontaine, reportedly skidded on the icy roadway while attempting to stop and struck the Bronco from behind.
Hopper was cited for failure to control.
No injuries were reported.
A second crash was reported shortly after 7:30 a.m. on East Sandusky Avenue.
Police say a 2012 Ford Fusion driven by 43-year-old Amanda Strohl of Bellefontaine was traveling westbound when she lost control on the icy roadway and spun around.
The Fusion was then struck by a 2004 Honda CR-V driven by 33-year-old Jason Quinn of Bellefontaine, who was unable to slow down or stop due to the icy conditions.
No injuries were reported in that crash, and no citations were issued.
Police are reminding drivers to slow down and allow extra stopping distance when road conditions are slick.
