A Logan County jury found Abby Small, 35, of West Mansfield, guilty Thursday on multiple charges, including third-degree felony endangering children, first-degree misdemeanor endangering children, and second-degree misdemeanor obstructing official business.

The case stems from a November 19, 2024, incident when Logan County Sheriff’s Deputies, responding to a child abuse and neglect report regarding Small’s 4-year-old daughter, attempted to speak with her at her home.

Deputies say Small initially tried to avoid contact, barricading herself inside.

In coordination with Logan County Children’s Services, deputies used mild force to enter the home and check on the children.

Small was arrested for obstructing official business.

The child was taken to Mary Rutan Hospital for treatment and later transferred to Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus due to concerns about severe malnutrition and injuries.

In January 2025, the Logan County Grand Jury formally indicted Small on the charges of third-degree felony endangering children, first-degree misdemeanor endangering children, and second-degree misdemeanor obstructing official business.

Small will be sentenced on March 31 at 1:00 PM and will remain in the Logan County Jail until that time.
