Travel Advisories Explained

When the winter weather turns nasty, the Logan County Sheriff, Randy Dodds may declare a travel advisory, warning, or emergency. Listed below are the different levels and their explanations.

  • Level 1– Roadway Advisory: Roadways are hazardous with blowing and drifting snow. Roads are also Icy. Caution should be used when driving.
  • Level 2– Roadway Warning: Roadways are extremely hazardous with blowing and drifting snow. Only those persons who feel it is necessary to drive should be out on the roadways. Your employer should be contacted to see if you should report to work.
  • Level 3– Roadway Emergency: All Roadways are closed to non-emergency traffic. No one should be out during these conditions unless it is absolutely necessary to travel. All persons should contact their employer to see if they should report to work. THOSE PERSONS TRAVELING OR REQUIRING OTHERS TO TRAVEL ON THE ROADWAY MAY SUBJECT THEMSELVES TO ARREST.

The Logan County Sheriff’s office requests that you do not contact 9-1-1 to inquire about what level of snow emergency the county is currently under, but rather to sign up to receive alerts at Nixle or text your zip code to 888777 for mobile alerts.
