Logan County faced a mix of winter weather this weekend, leading to challenging travel conditions and a snow emergency.

Snow began falling quickly Saturday afternoon, prompting Logan County Sheriff Randy Dodds to issue a Level 1 Snow Emergency as roads became slick.

Several vehicle slide-offs were reported around the county as the snow accumulated faster than expected, creating hazardous conditions for drivers.

Road crews worked throughout the evening to clear and treat major routes.

By late Saturday night, rain moved into the region, melting much of the snow that had built up earlier,

The National Weather Service issued both a Hazardous Weather Outlook and a Special Weather Statement early Sunday morning.

West winds of 20 to 25 mph with gusts up to 40 mph are expected through mid-afternoon Sunday, with winds gradually easing later in the day.

A stronger system is also expected to bring accumulating snow Monday night into Tuesday, which may affect the Tuesday morning commute.

The Special Weather Statement added that winds behind a passing cold front could gust 35 to 45 mph, urging residents to secure loose outdoor items—especially holiday decorations—as conditions remain blustery.

The snow emergency was lifted shortly after 9 AM Sunday.

Authorities remind drivers to stay alert as temperatures fluctuate and additional snow is expected early this week.
